It's the old question that make some people in church shudder at the very question and others just not want to answer it. It's a simple question and it has a simple answer. Who was Cain's wife?
It's not a very difficult question to answer if one just sits down and reads the story carefully. Even Jewish tradition tells the tale. Of course, many people like to use the answer to discredit the Bible and its historic accuracy, but the facts are the facts. Adam and Eve had children. Jewish tradition says that the first perfect couple had forty sons and thirty daughters. As Adam-Eve lived a long time into the hundreds of years there was plenty of time to have children. Their bodies were created perfect so there really wasn't a problem having so many kids.
We know who Cain's brother was, Abel, but what about his wife? The obvious answer is that Cain married his own sister. He married his own flesh and blood, but of course most people would react rather horrified by that notion.
One must remember that if God is going to populate the Earth He is going to do it His way. He is going to do it in His time frame of human lifetimes that were longer than today's or even a few thousand years ago. The law against brother-sister marrying didn't come into play until a few thousand years later at the time of Moses. By then, the genetic code God put into place had to be modified. One must bare in mind that in the beginning, mankind was perfect and then sin began its slow decay. Cain married his sister because she was there and there was no law against it, and he probably wasn't the only one.
